A Little Less Country

I had a bit of a western look going on over here, but today I looked more like an English rider instead of a cowgirl. Either way, these boots are amazingly comfortable. I highly recommend them for a cheap pair of black boots. Check them out at Charlotte Russe. Target has a similar pair too for about the same price, but I got these on sale for $20.00. Couldn't pass them up. After being on my feet all day in them I'm glad I didn't.

What's in a title anyway?

 The other problem I'm running into with my new schedule is coming up with titles when I put together 2-3 posts at a time. 

As I look out my window I see yellow leaves in the trees. I know this means my neighborhood will become an ocean of crunchy leaves before long. This outfit was, however, not inspired by fall weather or crunchy leaves. It was inspired by wanting to wear these pants with boots, not liking the results, and not having time to change into anything else.

Just Me and My Thoughts

I get a lot of time alone with just my thoughts these days. I have a half hour drive there and back to the studio, and last night I had the road almost completely to myself except the last 20 miles. I actually didn't think about much this drive. I simply relaxed and enjoyed the drive. What do you like to do when you have a long drive all by yourself? I had a friend tell me they wrote all of there wedding thank you cards while in the car. Now that may be a little dangerous, but I'm open to other hands free multitasking.

Twirling is better in person

 

As you can see my twirling is much better when viewed in person. At least it would be better if I had a camera with a faster shutter speed. Sigh...that won't be happening this year. Hopefully, what will be happening instead Nate and I will be purchasing a second vehicle. With my added work load we have reached the extent of our one car, family rope. We have a friend that has a truck he is selling for a decent price. I hope to be able to put the money together by the end of November.

Bravery

 I had talked about a trend that I liked on others for the cooler fall weather, but I never thought I would try it out myself. Well I put on a brave face, and strutted out the door in shorts and tights today. I must say it felt kind of fun. Do you know what I mean? It wasn't a serious outfit for work, or a big date gotta look nice outfit. It was just for the heck of it. I wore a skirt to work, and needed to change into something a little more kid friendly for my childcare job this ended up being perfect. I loved the mixing of purples, brown, and yellow.

In other news, I think we are working out all the details to our new schedule quite well. As long as we manage to get Lyla an uninterrupted nap everyday we are golden. Every now and than a hiccup in the plan doesn't properly account for a good nap, but even than Lyla is handling everything like a champ.

Western Flair

 The hubs loved this outfit, but I couldn't shake the slight cowgirl vibe it gave. No don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with some good old Western twang to your wardrobe every now and than. I was just overexposed to it as a child, and it brings back some not always pleasant memories. Anyway, I surprisingly like this outfit. 

I'm drawing on zero inspiration for fall outfits. I just don't have a lot of time with my new schedule to scour style blogs anymore. Am I all alone in my lack of panache for fall styling? I also, have a lack of fall/winter clothing. I think it is time for a thrifting trip again.

Crazy Hights

Can you believe that Express sold this as a dress? This is the correct size for me, but there is no way I could wear this out of the house sans leggings without having a Britney moment. In other news, I'm loving these flats. Yellow may not be a neutral, but it is in my fall shoe collection. Now all I need is a pair of yellow suede heels, and I'm set for almost any occasion. How do you feel about using non-neutral colors in neutral ways? What shoes are you wearing everywhere this fall?

Fit to be Tied

Edit: Let me say how thankful I am for all of you input on my post a few days ago. All of your comments were very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I greatly appreciated it.

I was inspired by the Style Underdog for today's outfit. Ok...I'll explain how. I loved the drape of her shirt with a slightly fitted skirt. However, she was in the middle of an heatwave and I'm dealing with fall weather. That makes this my fall spin on her fabulous look. Do you see it now? Ok, I won't hold it against you if you don't see it. I'm probably the only one.

Read Between the Lines

I got this striped shirt on my trip to Detroit back in August, and this is the first time it has made it out of my closet. Not because of any degree of buyers remorse. It was just waiting for the right moment. Thankfully, I could pair it with my red pencil skirt. I don't think I was thinking clearly when I thrifted this skirt, because, I have only three or four tops that work with it. I'm going to challenge myself to come up with some other options. Any suggestions?

Black and White

 No bells and whistles with this outfit. Pairing black and white together, and it is hard to go wrong. I choose the gladiator heels and chunky jewelry to give it a little spunk. With my new schedule I am still taking my daily photos, and when I have a spare minute at the computer I put together as many posts as I can. This is the third I've done today, and I'm all out of extra words. Thankfully this outfit doesn't need any words to describe it.

I was lurking on a fashion and beauty forum when I had some downtime. I ran across a post asking what do you like to see/read on style blogs. It seemed that the general consensus was they just wanted to see nice pictures. They stopped following a few blogs, because, the writer started sharing some things about their life. They also didn't like when bloggers wrote special articles. I know that personally it is the writers decision of what reaches the blog. Just add tights

 This is my solution for making a shorter dress more appropriate for both work and weather. If a drastic change is needed substitute leggings for tights. Voila! That was what I did to wear this summer dress in the cooler fall weather, and I topped it all off with boots.

Put Some Thought Into It Please

 My shoe wardrobe is still missing a pair of black pumps, otherwise, that is what I would have been wearing. These shoes are a close second, and look pretty decent. I had a customer tell me I should swap the shirt for a button up or polo, shorten the skirt, and go as a school girl for Halloween. I think I will pass on that option. Check out the article Indiana from Adored Austin wrote on the crazy things people try to turn in to sexy costumes. I think it is stupid. If you don't want to take the time to put some real thought into a costume don't dress up. Please save yourself the humiliation of looking back at those pictures that are guaranteed to be taken when you have had one to many drinks. Jumping Through Puddles

We had a complete downpour of rain for a bit today, and I had to run from my car up to my Mom's condo to drop off clothes and pull-ups for Lyla. My coat did a good job of keeping me dry while I dashed from Point A to Point B and back again. However, I wish I could say the same for my moccasins. I managed to leap over one puddle, but landed on the edge of another one. My shoes were soaked, and my feet instantly became icicles. After driving an hour round trip plus my training time out at the studio my shoes were still soaked through. Since, the rest of my outfit was a little inappropriate for the weather I changed into this.

a different kind of shopping

I did a different kind of shopping for this outfit. I shopped my husband's closet. I pulled out a couple of sweaters that I think will make decent outfits if belted and paired correctly. This outfit is the first of the two, however, this one fits Nate a little snug making it not as baggy as I wanted. Also, it was unintentional that I paired navy and black. I actually kind of liked the colors together, and there is enough other colors and separation in the outfit that it look alright. What do you think? Anybody have a standard rule of thumb when it comes to mixing colors like black and navy, or brown and black?

Little Less Edgy This time

The last time I wore this tank I paired it with dark wash skinny jeans and gladiator heels. This time I went a more casual route with khakis, a cardigan, and flat sandals. I think the outfit turned ok, but I felt very awkward when taking pictures. Hopefully, I didn't actually look awkward all day. I probably just waited to long to take pictures, and was too tired.

These sandals have been a casual summer staple, and they have followed me into the fall transition phase quite well. I have definitely got my money out of them. I'm thankful to see for cheap Target shoes they held up very well, and should make it to next spring/summer too. What summer items are you hanging on to for fall?

Puzzle Pieces

Good things started happening to me a few weeks ago, and they just keep coming. First the nursery director job and choreographing for Creative Academy. Then today, I was asked by my old dance teacher to come and help out at her studio. I will be working behind the office once a week, and will get to sub classes, and teach if they need to add to the schedule. I'm so excited about all of these wonderful opportunities. I know my plate is really full right now, but I'm hoping between all of the extra stuff I may get to leave my full-time job to be a stay at home/work from home mom during the day. I can't wait to see what the next piece of the puzzle is.

After School

In all honesty this was shot on a weekend, at a school I have never attended. It was a really cool fall day, and a sweater and tights was completely appropriate. I think fall may actually have shown up on my doorstep. I guess I'll have to wait and see how things pan out.

Several of the blogs I read have done looks with tights and shorts as a transitional fall look. Well I haven't gathered the guts to try that out yet. This khaki corduroy mini is as close as I've come. What do you think about the shorts/tights trend? Do you wear it?
