 I had talked about a trend that I liked on others for the cooler fall weather, but I never thought I would try it out myself. Well I put on a brave face, and strutted out the door in shorts and tights today. I must say it felt kind of fun. Do you know what I mean? It wasn't a serious outfit for work, or a big date gotta look nice outfit. It was just for the heck of it. I wore a skirt to work, and needed to change into something a little more kid friendly for my childcare job this ended up being perfect. I loved the mixing of purples, brown, and yellow.

In other news, I think we are working out all the details to our new schedule quite well. As long as we manage to get Lyla an uninterrupted nap everyday we are golden. Every now and than a hiccup in the plan doesn't properly account for a good nap, but even than Lyla is handling everything like a champ.

Whats in this Weekend: Unexpected Colors

The leaves may change colors and your brightly pedicured toes take cover, but you don't have to dress yourself from head to toe in dark attire (unless you want). Put on your shades, and revel in the light of a few bright colors.

Whats in this Weekend: Outerwear

The military trend is big for all areas of fall fashion. You will find just about as many olive colored jackets as you will cargo skinnies. I like this jacket from American Eagle. You could pair it over a flirty dress and tights to make a nice transitional outfit.

Leather bomber jackets are another nice option to stay warm. They look great with jeans. Also, push up the sleeves and pair it with a dress. Can you see a theme yet? I like the color of this faux leather number from Kohl's.

Of course, the classic trench will never go out of style. Gap makes a trench with such a clean silhouette. On the other hand, don't be scared to try this cut in a bold color or splashy print.

Another classic option is a double breasted wool coat. Old Navy makes a very affordable option. I have friends that have worn there wool Old Navy coats for years on end, and the color is just starting to fade.

What's In this weekend: Fall Nailpolish Trends

Ok, I have a confession to make. I have a slight addiction to nail polish. You should see my collection of colors. It is huge, and thanks to Lyla I seem to frequently add to it. That being said here are my picks for this fall.

Last year vampy nail colors were all the rage. This year things are being toned down a bit. Grey, Beige, and the increasingly popular Greige combination are great choices. They also look more work appropriate than the blackish colors of last year.

Green is still in for fall. I'm not talking lime greens, and the mint green popular this spring/summer will probably take a back seat till next year. I'm talking sage greens, maybe, the occasional hunter green.

Ice Ice Baby

This crocheted jacket is such a pretty color of ice blue, but as pretty as I think it is I always have issues wearing it. It tends to bag as the day goes on. As you can see in the pictures it is hanging off my shoulder oddly.  That is something I find quite irritating. I think this is the last time I will wear it, and it will find its way to the donation pile. As for the pencil skirt I thrifted a while back, I Love it more and more each time I wear it. I love full skirts, but something about a fitted pencil skirt just makes me feel professional. However, that puts me on the verge of being over dressed for my job. Do you ever feel awkward being over dressed for something? I live in a place that more often than not I'm one of the most dressed up people there. At least one of a handful of people that looked put together. Living in a college town will do that to you.

I'm excited that it is time for me to pull out my darker fall/winter polishes. I'm wearing OPI's Siberian Nights right now. Nice dark purple color. However, it didn't look so nice when splattered all over my shoes and dress pants. See the whole story here. What fall polish colors are you using?

Friend Friday: Fall Fashion

I've joined ranks when many other bloggers in a thing called Friend Friday. This is spearheaded by a wonderful lady named Katy over at ModlyChic. She sends out a list of questions on a topic for us to answer on Wednesday, and Friday (What other day would it be?) we post our answers to her questions. 1. What new fashion trend are you looking forward to sporting this fall? Either fifties inspired pieces (or the real deal if I'm lucky thrifting sometime), pieces detailed in lace, or the animal print trend. I'm just about loving everything this season. However, fifties inspired pieces probably tops my list.

2. Which item in your closet is most likely to be your go-to transition piece? My jean jacket. I will be able to wear it over many of my summer pieces to make them more fall weather appropriate.


3. What item from last year are you looking forward to reinventing this fall? My thin moto jackets. I got them for Christmas last year, so I didn't get much use out of them before it was to cold.


4. What is your favorite part about this time of the year?(fashion wise) Layering! I love how layering the same pieces different ways can completely change the look. (otherwise) I enjoy watching the leaves change color. Watching the leaves fall is great too, as long as I'm not the one raking them.


5. Will you be attending any fashion events this fall? Unfortunately, I will not be attending any fashion events. Maybe next year.
