Woman at Work

I've been on the hunt for a simple blazer for awhile now. I tried to find one secondhand, but was having no luck with that. I remembered seeing several bloggers wearing one from Target, so I thought I would try looking there. I didn't want to spend much on it, so I was very happy to see they had it in the clearance section marked down to $14.00. I pulled out some of my Christmas money and made my purchase. Yes, to my husbands shock I went in to the dressing room with an armful of stuff and walked out with just the blazer.

On the Rocks

Flannel sheets and flannel shirts are warm, but when it is is in the single digits outside you need something more. You especially need something more when you are posing for outfit pictures on ice covered rocks. There was a few times I thought my butt may actually freeze to the rocks if I didn't move soon enough. Brrr...it didn't help me feel any warmer that Nate was wearing his heavy snowboarding jacket while taking pictures. He did a great job, and helped me climb down from some of the higher, icy spots.

Peacocks and Scarves

What do peacocks and scarves have in common? If you put them together you get this lovely scarf that I got from Spotted Moth. About a month ago, I won a gift certificate to Spotted Moth from a giveaway that Collette over at
Statements in Fashion. I had a very hard time picking out what I wanted to get from this cute store.

This is what I wore to our crazy gift exchange on my husband's side of the family. It was a lot of fun, yet again, this year. I walked away with a set of kitchen storage containers.

Momma has a New Pair of Boots

I know a lot of people have been asking questions of some of the people who participated in Kendi's 30 for 30 remix challenge. One of the biggest questions is what is/was your first purchase. Well you can stop holding your breath for my answer. If you follow me on Twitter you've already seen it. I purchased a new pair of boots at Charlotte Russe out of necessity. I left the house in a pair of moccasins, and it wasn't snowing. Nate and I went to the mall , and enough snow was coming down that a pair of covered shoes was necessary.

It's Christmas Time People!!!

Ok, I may be the last person to take their pictures in front of a Christmas Tree. We don't have our Christmas Tree up yet. Since, I'm not home very often it may not even get put up this year. This Christmas tree shoot courtesy of our church. Is anybody else not decorating?

30 for 30: Outfit #21

This is probably my least favorite 30 for 30 remix so far. I like everything together, but it just seems bulky and stumpy. I should have worn heels, and maybe tucked in and belted the shirt and skirt. Oh well I was sick and it was cold, so comfort and necessity won out. What do you do on those days?

30 for 30: Outfit #7

There was so many things about this outfit that either changed throughout the day or should have changed. Let me start by saying some skirts just don't mix well with tights. This skirt is one of them. I started the day wearing brown tights, and brown pumps. I switched the pumps for flats before leaving the house. My foot was bothering me, and I had a full night of teaching dance. I wasn't going to risk irritating it by wearing heels.
After about an hour at work I had enough of the skirt doing weird things when I walked, because, it was sticking to the tights. I took off the tights. I was disappointed I no longer had the warmth, but I was thankful to not worry about my skirt riding up. I also, lost the battle of the tucked in shirt. After un-tucking my shirt I wished I had a belt. Than it struck me that if I would have just worn a belt in the first place I probably wouldn't have lost the battle.

What is in store next week?

I have had a great weekend. Nate and I went out for dinner at a bar and grill. It was a nice quick meal followed by shopping at Target. I didn't get much for myself, just a set of patterned tights. I did get a birthday present from me to you. You will have to stick around, and I'll make my giveaway announcement on my birthday (Nov. 1st).

Jumping Through Puddles

We had a complete downpour of rain for a bit today, and I had to run from my car up to my Mom's condo to drop off clothes and pull-ups for Lyla. My coat did a good job of keeping me dry while I dashed from Point A to Point B and back again. However, I wish I could say the same for my moccasins. I managed to leap over one puddle, but landed on the edge of another one. My shoes were soaked, and my feet instantly became icicles. After driving an hour round trip plus my training time out at the studio my shoes were still soaked through. Since, the rest of my outfit was a little inappropriate for the weather I changed into this.

Nothing Special//Just Keeping Warm

I haven't been at my new part time job long, but the family and I were invited to the staff picnic. I think it was safe to say fun was had by all. They smoked ribs and brisket, grilled chicken and hot dogs, had all your normal picnic fair, and offered cobbler and s'mores for desert. It was all so yummy. The guys seemed to endlessly play catch except when the food was served. Of course, they seemed to know the exact moment the cobbler was done. The kids jumped on a trampoline, played games, and stuffed there mouths with marshmallows. The women sat around chatting, except, those of us with children. We were on the go constantly surveying if the kids were ok or not, applying bug spray, refilling plates, and making sure nobody lit the porch on fire with a flaming marshmallow.

I didn't wear this the whole day just for the picnic, but I knew it would be cold out. Also, I seemed to have superior drink-ability for mosquitoes. If I cover myself in clothes I have a greater chance of surviving the night unscathed.

Ice Ice Baby

This crocheted jacket is such a pretty color of ice blue, but as pretty as I think it is I always have issues wearing it. It tends to bag as the day goes on. As you can see in the pictures it is hanging off my shoulder oddly.  That is something I find quite irritating. I think this is the last time I will wear it, and it will find its way to the donation pile. As for the pencil skirt I thrifted a while back, I Love it more and more each time I wear it. I love full skirts, but something about a fitted pencil skirt just makes me feel professional. However, that puts me on the verge of being over dressed for my job. Do you ever feel awkward being over dressed for something? I live in a place that more often than not I'm one of the most dressed up people there. At least one of a handful of people that looked put together. Living in a college town will do that to you.

I'm excited that it is time for me to pull out my darker fall/winter polishes. I'm wearing OPI's Siberian Nights right now. Nice dark purple color. However, it didn't look so nice when splattered all over my shoes and dress pants. See the whole story here. What fall polish colors are you using?

Weekend Wear

Warning: semi picture heavy post
At least compared to normal

The reason behind the extra pictures is I actually made it out of the house to take pictures, and they turned out pretty good. I had  hardly any editing to do, and so many of them turned out really nice. Again, this is all in comparison to what I normally have to post. I could choose just a few.

Nate and I took the dogs for a walk after picking up breakfast and coffee. I brought my camera along thinking maybe I would find a place decent enough looking to take my outfit pictures. I was about to loose hope when we pasted a podiatrist's office. They had a nice rock exterior, and were closed for the weekend. That meant all I had to deal with for the embarrassment factor was the light traffic in the neighborhood across the parking lot. The pictures turned out so nice I may have to keep trying to find interesting places for photo shoots. I know you must as bored of my house as I am, but with a two year old that is as good as it gets sometimes.
