30 for 30: Outfit #10

Does anybody else regret a few of there 30 for 30 pieces due to the changing weather? I included my denim skirt, because, we had weeks of wonderful 70+ weather. Unfortunately, just after the challenge started the weather dropped dramatically. We even had 4" of snow over the weekend. Let me tell you I wasn't to happy about that.

Well, I'm not giving up on this skirt regardless of the weather. I decided to wear some fun, colorful sweater tights. I actually really like the look. I thought at first I would feel like a little kid. The kiddos I watch at nursery have pulled out there sweater tights, and today I joined them.

Playing Catch

Let us see if I can catch up with real time here. Saturday night was my Sister in-law's 21st birthday party, I stayed out late, and I got up early Sunday morning. I was so tired when I got back home I took full advantage of Lyla's naptime, and slept as well. When all three of us got up we went to Walmart to get some groceries. That being said, I didn't have a post worthy outfit to share. Monday, I ended up snapping pictures basically on the way out the door. Nate had to do some work at his parent's house. We ended up spending the afternoon there, and stayed for supper. Once we got home it was too late for me to put together a post. Now that we are in present time here are the pictures.

I've Got a Feeling

That tonight is going to be another fun night. It is Wednesday and that means another week of Mom and Me dance class with The Bean. I had a blast last week with Lyla. She didn't listen the whole time, or follow all of the direction. The kiddo isn't even two yet. Wouldn't expecting all of that be too much of her? The main objection is that she has fun, and is introduced to the wonderful world of dance.

Now in other news Lyla has jumped into the world of fashion blogging too. She insisted on being in today's pictures. Please forgive her hair. It is developing curls and waves, but isn't long enough or thick enough to provide any kind of weight to it. Until that time it is what it is.

Didn't she do a wonderful job?

10/30 of the 30 for 30 remix

Yes you read that right. Today is outfit number ten. That means I am 1/3 of the way through my challenge. Yay me!!! While getting dressed this morning I decided my summer wardrobe is pretty boring. My accessories are lacking too. Because, of my shopping restrictions I won't be able to add the much needed, inspiring items to my wardrobe until my trip in the middle of August. By that time all of the stores will be stocked with fall items. I decided I will just have to dream about building a wonderful fall/winter wardrobe, and try to wear my current items in as many new ways as possible.

I have a question for you. Since, I'm thinking fall fashion. What are your must have fall items?

Now for some fun, "Tag you're it!" On Modesty is Pretty she tagged us to write five random facts about ourselves. Here are mine. What about you? Let me know if you participate, so I can learn a little more about my readers.

1. I have been dancing for 18 years now. Wow...when I say it like that I feel older.

2. I married my high school sweetheart.

3. Blue is my absolute favorite color, but the hubby gave me a hard time about always purchasing blue items. Now my closet has a large amount of purple in it.

4. I have lived in the same house twice.

5. Lastly, I have a Puggle named Juno. Maybe, she will get some blog love sometime soon.

Simple and Comfy

Today's outfit had to be comfy, because, I spent a large chunk of the day at the hospital while a friend of mine had her baby. In the end she gave birth to a lovely little girl.

I'm getting home late, and can barely keep my eyes open. I will keep this post short and sweet. Sorry the pictures in this post and the last didn't get edited due to lack of energy on my part.

Lunch Date

That is a lunch date with my daughter. Where do two cute ladies go to lunch when one of them isn't even two yet. Of course they go to the food court at the mall. With so many options of things to eat, available shopping, and you cannot forget the play area you it is the perfect setting.

I lucked out with my little girl. She LOVES shopping, especially, shoes and accessories. We stopped in at Charolette Russe, and looked at all the jewelry. Just as we got to the fun part of trying on necklaces and bracelets we got a call from the hubby. Bad news he was going to get off early, and since we only have the one car right now that put a stop to are shopping trip.

I did get a picture of us together before we left the house. Now you get to take a look at the way fashionable mother daughter duos work the matching coordinated outfit look. I promise this was unintentional, and isn't a regular thing we do.

Safari Chic

Today's outfit is described as "Safari Chic" according to one of my customers. I didn't think of it that way when I got ready this morning. The more I looked it over during the day I came to agree with them a bit. I definitely have seen more safari looking outfits, and I know I've seem outfits more stylish than mine. However, this is what I have to work with. My wardrobe is very limited at this time during the 30 for 30 remix challenge. Even when I'm not participating in this challenge it is slim pickin' for me. I'm working on remedying this soon. Hopefully. ::cue wistful look, and browsing through sites such as ModCloth and Tulle:: What are your favorite online shopping sites?

Day 3: Shades of black

Today is Lyla's first dance class. As a dancer of eighteen years myself I am so happy to offer her this opportunity. If she doesn't like it I won't push her to dance, but so far she isn't old enough to tell me what she wants to do yet. I refuse to be a mom that pushes my dreams onto my children.

Enough about that now, my outfit for Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge is lacking in color. However, I think it has some coffee house style to it while being work appropriate. When I say "coffee house style" I am picturing Audrey Hepburn in "Funny Face".

What is "It" I'm talking about? Kendi Everday's 30 for 30 remix challenge. The rules are to pick out 30 pieces and remix them exclusively for 30 days. Here are my pieces for the challenge. Accessories don't count, and I had to not include leggings. Some of the items I chose to wear are appropriate without leggings, but for work I have to have the extra coverage. Hope that doesn't break the rules too much.

Happy Independence Day

Happy 4th of July everybody.  Yesterday, was when we watched fireworks and did your normal Independence Day activities. Today, Lyla Bean and I went out for lunch with my Mom. Here is the look of the day minus the shoes. They made their way into a rain puddle. Hopefully they dry out alright.

Matinee showing of Eclipse

After work, my sister in-law and I went to the matinee showing of Eclipse. The movie was good, and Taylor Lautner's lack of shirt didn't hurt my review of the movie either. My outfit was perfect for the high 80 degree weather we had, but I could have used a cute cardigan for the cold theater. Now for the scoop on the goods. All of the items are previous purchases, and I don't have links for them. The flats are still available at Target here. The flats also come in a multitude of colors and prints. They are pretty comfy, so I may add a few more to my collection. The tank was a pretty dark purple with a drop waist from the Limited. The skirt is a dark wash denim mini from Old Navy.

My photographer is passed out on the couch, so self-pics will have to do today. At least it is a step up from my phone.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I can't believe this is finally happening.

Let me start of by saying I am finally going on a vacation. I haven't been on a vacation in close to three years. I really deserve this. The hubby and I are going to Michigan. Nate has an aunt that lives there, and she is letting us stay at her house. We leave the second week in August. Now for the bad news. I'm putting myself on shopping restriction until that time. After all part (read: most) of our vacation will be spent shopping. We don't have a lot of variety here in Lincoln, so this will be a real treat for me. I also hope to have lots of new purchases, and dressing room reviews to post for you.

Speaking of dressing room reviews. I hope to make that a bi-weekly(?) blog feature. What do you think about that? My store selections are limited, but true to my mission they will be small-budget friendly. Also, as a bonus to you, they are readily available in most areas.

Now for today's look. I'm going to start by apologizing for the less than stellar pics. I had to use my phone, and a large mirror in my basement. All three things add up barely decent pictures. However, I did take the time to clean up the basement/storage room. It will have to do in a pinch like today. The outfit was quickly put together, as my little Lyla Bean decided to wake up thirty minutes early. The dress was a $15 dollar purchase from Target. The shoes are pewter flat sandals again from Target. I added a pair of leggings to make it a bit more covered up. Chasing a toddler in a super short dress is not something I recommend doing. The dress has a cute ruffle detail in front. I know some of you may think the dress is a little young, but sometimes that isn't a bad thing. After all the bright floral print gives me a little spring in my step. For accessories I'm wearing my new favorite turquoise bracelet, and a long antique colored charm necklace.

Here it is without the leggings. It isn't a bad length if I wasn't running errands with an almost two year old.

Here is a better picture of the pattern and the charm necklace.

pretty places and blank faces

I have come to the realization I have no safe, clean area in my house to take OOTD pics. No problem you say. Take pictures outside. I agree that is a brilliant idea, BUT I live in Lincoln, NE. We have a very, very limited selection of pretty or even unique places. However, today's shoot takes place at the Sunken Gardens. In my opinion, one of the prettiest places I have access to.

The outfit isn't very inspiring today. Sorry. I had something better in mind, but  I am missing a skinny black belt. Also, the shoes are less than spectacular. Oh well, they can't all be hits. You have to experience a few misses too. Item info below the photo set. Enjoy! I'm off to try and fix up a place to take pics at home. I guess you will find out soon enough how that turns out.

Why can't Monday be the new Friday?

Here we go again starting a new work week. Today was a slow day at my store, and I had lots of time to catch up on paper work from the weekend. I also managed to get in some extra cleaning too. After work I decided to take Lyla to the park to play and take some outfit of the day pics. The capris are a gray cropped dress pant I got from Kohl's several years ago. The flats are $13 at Target here. The cami is here at Old Navy for $8.50. They don't have the color in stock anymore. The belt is a recent sale purchase from NY & Co. I got it for $5, sorry no link.
