Friend Friday: Connecting With Readers

I'm so happy it is Friday, and it wouldn't be a Friday without blogging about Friend Friday*. This week the other bloggers in the group and myself are talking about connecting with our readers. Leave me a note in the comments if you have any thing you would like to see me do to help build my bond with you lovely readers.

1. How important do you think reader connectedness is to the success
of your blog?
Reader connectedness is 100% related to the success of a blog. Even small blogs that have a limited readership have a level of success if they take the time to connect with their readers. It may be success on a small level, but it is success none the less. Everybody has to start somewhere.
2. What do you do to draw readers in and create that writer-reader
bond?
I try and ask at least one question on each post. It may be a fashion related question, or something more personal. That gives the readers a chance to give me there opinion, and let me get to know them. I also try and be open and real, so my readers can get to know me. The writer-reader bond is a two way street.
3. What is one way you could improve this connection?
I don't think there is specifically any one thing that can be done. I just try to be myself, friendly, and outgoing. If someone that stops by doesn't like me there is nothing I can do to change that.
4. Is there a blogger you think does a great job creating that writer-
reader bond? Why?
Can I name two? Of course I can, it is my blog after all. Kendi of Kendi Everyday is so sweet and funny that you can't help but feel a bond with her.
Beverly of Style Underdog has invited everyone over to her house for pizza and movies. You don't get much closer than that. Ok, seriously I fell in love with her blog, because, of her no holds bar way of posting.
I could probably list quite a few bloggers that I think do a great job bonding with there readers, but I'll stop here.
5. What do you do to cultivate new readers? How do you get them to
your site in the first place?
I reach new readers through the blogs I read. I've also been lucky enough to have gotten a few shout outs on some fabulous blogs. I have also gained readers from my Facebook and Twitter accounts. (see links below) It just helps to be an active part of the blogging community. I can't say I've got it all figured out, but I've come along way in just under six months. I'm much further along then I expected.

I agree...Beverly is awesome at connecting with her readers, and I think asking a question of your readers is a fantastic way to keep them engaged.

You being open and real really comes across in your blog, which is why I keep coming back as I like blogs where the personality of the blogger shines through!
