30 for 30: Scarf Vest

I guess this 30 for 30 I'm all about working the scarves as clothing. Remember, when I wore a scarf as a poncho too? Today, I'm turning my scarf into a vest. Well...not exactly, but I belted it and Nate thought it looked like a vest. Also, I feel the need to say that isn't a hair tie on my wrist. It is a small beaded bracelet from Honduras. My brother brought it back for me after a missions trip.

30 for 30//Friend Friday: I'm only one voice in a million

Katy's set of questions for this weeks Friend Friday came at a perfect time. I was already debating whether I should combine posts, or have two separate posts. You see I'm participating in three things today. Friend Friday for one, Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 remix, and What Andie Wears' Go Red for Women's Heart Health. You see all of these things are being participated by myself and numerous other bloggers. Am I just jumping on the bandwagon? Am I doing something that takes away the unique voice I've been building on this blog. To quote Natasha Bedingfield, "I'm only one voice in a million, and you ain't taking that from me."

1. With all of the blogging events out there how do you determine which ones to participate in and which ones to avoid?
I pick and choose what events I participate in based on how I relate to the cause/mission/challenge etc. If I feel that I don't have an attachment to an event no matter how "good" it is I won't participate.
2. Be honest, have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of some blogging movement/event for the wrong reasons? How did that turn out?
None that I can think of. I've only done Friend Friday, 30 for 30,
Everybody, Everywear, and now Andie's thing. All of these events I've both enjoyed doing while benefiting from them at the same time.
3. How do you give your own flair to blog event while still maintaining the general mission and purpose?
This is a tough one to answer. I guess I just try to be myself. Whether that is answering the questions in my own style and wording choice, or how I plan on using "red" without always wearing it each Friday in February.
  4. When determining the best content for your blog what criteria do you keep in mind?
My two criteria are pretty easy to follow. Anything on my blog has to be within a realistic budget and has to be something that I can match to my style.

5. While everything will not suit your blog, how do you try and support your fellow bloggers who are participating in something worthwhile?
If I'm participating or not I try and comment on other bloggers' posts to encourage them along the way.

30 for 30: Outfit #22

You've seen this sweater a couple of times during this remix, but I thoughts I would wear it differently this time. (here is last time) Making something look different through styling or reworking how you wear it is the sign of a true remixer. Hopefully it will also help you not get bored of my blog too fast. You see I don't have a very large closet, or budget to buy new stuff all the time. Right now I'm participating in Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge, but in all honesty this blog is kind of one big remix challenge for me. The rules just aren't as strict.

Didn't click the 1st link? Ok, I'll let you in on the secret. I just wore it backwards, so it had a cute "V" in back and a high neckline in front. TADA!

How do you stay inspired to remix what you have in different ways?

Eight Days a Week

Good news! I just got a part time job as the nursery director for my church. Yay for the extra income! However, with only one car we now will be busy approximately eight days a week.
Here is what keeps us busy
  • We both work full time jobs
  • Dance rehearsals- Monday
  • Football practice- Tuesday and Thursday
  • Child care (Danie) Sound board (Nate)- Wednesday
  • Weekend services- Saturday and Sunday
OK, so eight days is an exaggeration, but we will be busy everyday except Friday nights. In all reality it won't seem that busy, because, Nate and I both work jobs were we are off by 1:30. That leaves a good four to five hours before we have to be anywhere.

Sorry, about today's pictures. I had a longer section of hair fall forward into my bangs that I didn't feel, and Nate didn't tell me about either. I changed to be ready to go to the park before looking at pictures. Otherwise, I would have re-taken the shots. I think this means it is time for a trim.

The Scoop
Shirt- Express
Dress as a Skirt- Target
Shoes- Target

I've worn all three of these dresses as skirts. (here, here, and today's post) Maybe it is time for me to try and style them as dresses before summer comes to an end. I don't know if that will happen or not. I almost prefer them as skirts. What do you think?
